Engineer-in-Training Program Alaska District, CoE
Publication: Issues in Engineering: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 108, Issue 3
Abstract
Rotational Engineer-In-Training Program is a success at the Alaska District, Corps of Engineers. Initiated in 1967, it is better than similar programs conducted by the State of Alaska, Municipality of Anchorage, and local industry and architectural/engineering firms. A high turnover after program completion results from low Federal salaries, lack of professional satisfaction, and discouraged innovation. Data was obtained from questionnaires to engineers who had completed the program, records search and interviews with Alaska District Supervisors as well as representatives of the State, Municipality, and local industrial and engineering firms.
