Abstract
Many engineering schools are increasing the number of undergraduate courses in design. A few schools have practicing engineers teaching these courses. This paper describes a course whose subject is the activities of professional engineers. The course is conducted by practicing engineers at their offices. The program is a joint effort between local consulting engineers and the University of Connecticut to help undergraduates develop appreciation of some aspect of practice before they graduate. This type course is adaptable to any school where local practicing engineers are willing to participate.
