Engineering Management Seminar—A Continuing Education Experience

The Illinois Section of ASCE has conducted on a local basis two continuing education seminars—both related to management. In this paper, the approach, organization, and observation regarding these programs are described. This information is presented on the assumption that this specific experience may be of interest and use to others contemplating such activities. Based on the limited experience described, some tentative conclusions and preliminary recommendations can be made: (1)There is an interest in ASCE courses; (2)the general area of management is an area not overly covered by others and hence worth supporting; (3)there is a need for more experience with these activities; and (4)local section arrangements allow continuing education at a bargain price. An individual can afford it and justify it.
