Opportunities for American Engineers in Overseas Work
Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 99, Issue 4
Abstract
During the period 1961-1971, a slight growth in United States aid occurred but there is no evidence of a proportionate increase in opportunities for American engineers. With a substantial increase in financial assistance from foreign consulting engineers, another element of competition has been introduced into the foreign market. A method of opening up new areas of opportunity is presented. Knowledge of agencies' programs and opportune availability of information is imperative. Several useful sources of information are reviewed. Exploration of the relationship between the agency and consultants has taken place in seminars between member countries of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and representatives from the development agency, and is expected to continue in the future.
