Development and Implementation of Salary Guidelines
Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 99, Issue 3
Abstract
In 1971, following three years of salary studies and coordination meetings, the four California Sections of ASCE adopted and published Guidelines for the Employment of Professional Engineers. The salary guidelines within this publication are a major step towards achieving adequate compensation for civil engineers. The remaining task is to implement the guidelines. This paper traces the development of the guidelines, briefly discusses their content and describes the implementation program that is now underway in California.
