The Education of an Engineer (A Continuing Story)
Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 98, Issue 4
Abstract
The education of an engineer is and must be a continuing process. In addition to the basic knowledge, there are certain skills and philosophies also necessary for progression toward and attainment of the title of engineer. These are effective communication; interpersonal relations; a feel for the lessons of the past; an understanding of economics and politics; a code of ethics for personal and professional development; and a committment to society. The quest for these qualities is an education which is never finished.
