Interdisciplinary Planning to Meet Environmental Needs
Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 98, Issue 4
Abstract
A review is given of the history of work of the Corps of Engineers and the environment. In the future, many more community elements and many more disciplines are going to participate in water-resource decisions than did so in the past. Government agencies, for all their expertise and experience, must now be prepared to listen to and learn from, and perhaps be vetoed by other kinds of interest. The institutions and techniques and even the community climate for such interdisciplinary participation and community cooperations have not yet been fully prepared. Consequently there are many clouds through which we cannot yet see along our future course.
