Abstract
The annual report by ASCE's President highlights significant actions and events affecting the Society. A dues increase is unavoidable even if programs and services are held at their present level. Improved managerial procedures are needed to coordinate technical committee work, as revealed by the Newnam Committee. A streamlining of staff operations is necessary as well. The Section and District Councils, and the Student Chapters are active and expanding. A consent decree concerning competitive bidding for professional services was drawn up and filed with U.S. Dept. of Justice. Dr. Eugene Zwoyer has replaced William H. Wisely as Executive Director.
