Interaction of Soil and Penetration Projectile
Publication: Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division
Volume 108, Issue 3
Abstract
The motion of a terradynamic penetrator is formulated, and some interaction characteristics as the added mass and the interaction pressure distribution are calculated. The magnitude of the added mass is found to be small compared to the penetrator's mass. The expression for the interaction pressure is shown to be composed of a static and a dynamic term. The calculated stresses and masses can be used for the dynamic analysis of the penetrator's structure.
