Compressibility and Bearing Capacity
Publication: Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division
Volume 107, Issue 12
Abstract
Small-scale model footing tests were carried out on two frictional soils having identical strength characteristics and different deformation characteristics. The results emphasized the importance of soil compressibility. Test results are compared with existing analyical methods dealing with the bearing capacity of compressible soils. The suitability of these methods is examined in light of the test results.
