Abstract
Laterally loaded piles have received very extensive attention due to their common occurrence in practice, and many design methods have been proposed; the most established design methods use the subgrade reaction concept. Poulos (8, 9, 10) has presented an approximate numerical solut ion for the statics case and represents the pile as an inf"mitely thin linearly elastic strip embedded in an elastic media.
