Abstract
Soil stabilization by chemical grouting has been employed extensively in Europe for many years and is now finding significant application in the United States in underground construction projects. Although sodium silicate grouts are commonly used for this purpose, fundamental studies of their characteristics have been sporadic and addressed primarily toward determining the engineering properties of the end products of the grouting process.
