Abstract
It is generally recognized that the natural resources of Alaska will be required to supplement, and in many cases replace, the dwindling reserves of natural resources in the conterminous states. The Alaska pipeline represents the first major effort to tap the estimated 25 billion-30 billion barrels of petroleum beneath the North Slope; undoubtedly many other projects will follow.
