Abstract

The Cambridge group has given models based on theory of plasticity to predict the stress-strain behavior of.wet. clays. One of the attractive features of these models is the ease with which the relevant soils parametersλ, κ, and M can be evaluated Parameters λ and κ are, respectively, slopes of the virgin consolidation and swelling curves in the void ratio (e) – ln P… plot obtained from triaxial isotropic consolidation test. The main purpose of this note is to highlight the influence of different factors on parameters λ and D with a view to ascertain whether or not they are constants for a soil.
