Anchor Gallery Designs for Tainter Gate Active Anchorage Systems

Publication: Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction
Volume 25, Issue 2

Abstract

This paper reviews the design of accessible anchor galleries that allow the inspection, testing, and replacement of post-tensioned trunnion girder anchorage systems. Various means of egress were reviewed along with features to remove drainage, prevent inundation, and provide air circulation. An elastic analysis of an example gallery was performed and discussion provided regarding reinforcement detailing, safety features, and constructability.
