Abstract
To evaluate the properties of asphalt accurately, a new index, dynamic viscoelastic index (), is proposed on the basis of rheological mechanics. To verify this new index, six kinds of asphalt are evaluated with , and six kinds of asphalt mixtures are tested at high and low temperature with asphalt pavement analyzer and indirect tensile test, respectively. It is found and temperature shows a good relationship and can be fitted with quadratic function. Also, the slope of the curve changed at around 50°C, and the curve can be fitted with linear model respectively. It is recommended that be used as the index of high-temperature and low-temperature performance of asphalt since there is a good relationship between and performance of asphalt mixture.
