Abstract
Industrial hardwood laminated planks were proposed, manufactured, and tested. The raw material was Number 2B common sweetgum lumber approximately thick and wide. The lumber was of random lengths and was assembled with nonstructural square endjoints. Waterproof phenol resorcinol formaldehyde adhesive was used to face laminate the lumber into long beams. Laminated beams were tested for modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity and bending design values for the laminated beams were developed. The product of this research has applicability as member stock for bolt laminating into construction bridges and mats.
