New Associate Editors
With this issue of the Journal of Bridge Engineering we would like to formally welcome two new Associate Editors for the journal: Dr. Steve C. S. Cai, P.E., and Dr. Nur Yazdani.
Steve C. S. Cai is currently an assistant professor at Louisiana State University. After obtaining his PhD from the University of Maryland in 1993, he joined Michael Baker Jr., Inc. (from 1993 to 1996), for bridge design. He then moved to Florida Department of Transportation (1996 to 2000) for research and development. After staying at Kansas State University for one year, he has settled his new home at Louisiana State University since 2001. Over the years, Dr. Cai has gained extensive professional and research experience in bridge design, bridge performance evaluation, dynamics of bridges, and wind engineering. He is currently serving as the Secretary and Treasurer of the American Association for Wind Engineering and as a member of several ASCE and ACI committees. Dr. Cai has been the Principal Investigator for several federally funded projects (NSF and NCHRP) and state-government-funded projects. He has published over 60 technical papers, over 30 of which are in peer-reviewed journals.
Nur Yazdani is a professor of civil∕structural engineering at Florida A&M University–Florida State University College of Engineering. He received his PhD from the University of Maryland. He is a consulting engineer involved with highway bridge design and safety, and is a P.E. in Florida. His primary research interests are in the areas of concrete∕timber bridge design and rehabilitation, and hazard mitigation and preparedness for bridges. Dr. Yazdani is secretary of the ASCE-ACI Committee on Concrete Bridge Design. He is a member of TRB Committees on Concrete Bridges and General Structures.
