Abstract
Presented in chronological order is a brief overview of some anticipated notable achievements in the 21st century regarding buildings and bridges constructed around the world. Numerous large scale structures are expected in environments now thought of as hostile, such as underwater, in desert and arctic regions, and, of course, in outer space. Bridges will continue to traverse obstacles, and in many cases will be unusual in form, materials, and length.
