Total Force Coefficients for Inclined Cylinders

Publication: Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering
Volume 113, Issue 4

Abstract

The purpose of this note is twofold: (1) to confirm earlier findings that the maximum force determined by the Morison equation, which uses the two coefficients CM and CD, may be determined by an equation that uses a single coefficient f¯, and (2) to show this coefficient f¯ is independent of tube inclination.
