Modern Approach of Design of Welded Components Subjected to Fatigue Loading

Publication: Journal of Structural Engineering
Volume 130, Issue 5

Abstract

Traditionally, the design of welded structural components subjected to repeated loading been carried out using S/N curves. However since this procedure came into use, studies carried out on fatigue and fracture mechanics has vastly improved our understanding of the behavior of such components under repeated loading. In this paper a method of design of steel welded components subjected to fatigue loading which takes into account this improved understanding of the behavior of components under repeated loading is proposed.
