Abstract

Circular concrete silos are often arranged in clusters, thus forming additional storage spaces, called interstices or interstice bins. Methods of analysis for calculating maximum bending moments and axial force in the interstice wall are summarized and a more realistic theoretical model is proposed. Simple equations are proposed which are directly applicable to silo design. These formulas account for the realistic inclusion of proper boundary conditions in the computer model.
