Analysis of Wall‐Frames by Lagrangian Multipliers

Publication: Journal of Structural Engineering
Volume 109, Issue 2

Abstract

Two simplified methods have been suggested to enforce rotational continuity between line elements in bending (connecting beams) and Lagrangian plane stress elements (wall), by using Lagrangian multipliers. A shear wall with opening has been solved using the suggested methods and the results are compared with other methods. It is shown that the authorÆs approach improves the discretization layout and leads to better accuracy and lesser cost of analysis.
