Free Vibration of Parabolic Cables

Abstract
Salient features of the free vibration of simply supported, inclined parabolic cables are examined, and simple approximate expressions are presented with the aid of which the complete spectrum of natural frequencies can be determined readily. In addition, closed‐form expressions for several infinite series involving integrals of the natural modes of the cable are given which are of value in analyses of dynamic response.
