Density Effect on Round Turbulent Hypersaline Fountain
Publication: Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
Volume 135, Issue 1
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to examine a round hypersaline fountain. When the discharge was turbulent, and for large densimetric Froude numbers, the results have indicated that the maximum height of the fountain , in a quiescent and homogeneous surrounding, was a function of relative density difference. The height decreased from 3.06 at to 2.59 at . The observed density effects on the height of the fountain have indicated that the Boussinesq’s approximation was valid when the relative density difference was typically less than 0.003.
