Hydraulic Design Example—Canal and Pipeline Inlet
Publication: Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
Volume 127, Issue 12
Abstract
An example of a hydraulic design project is presented. This design project is intended for a “third year” course in hydraulics, which is the first hydraulics course after the introductory course in fluid mechanics. Students are required to combine canal segments, inlet and outlet structures, gates, and flow measurement structure into a canal system. Students work in groups to complete the design calculations, plans, and oral and written reports.
