Cherepnov Water Lifter; Theory and Experiment

Publication: Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
Volume 111, Issue 6

Abstract

A theoretical and experimental investigation of the hydraulics of the little‐known Cherepnov water lifter was conducted. It was found that as many as 36 algebraic and differential equations are required to predict the cyclic motion of the flow going through the lifter. With these equations, the behavior of the lifter can be conveniently analyzed on any computer having the Continuous System Modeling Program capability. Results of the computer output were compared with experimental data, and good agreement between theory and experiment was found.
