Trends for Overconsolidated Clays
Publication: Journal of Geotechnical Engineering
Volume 110, Issue 10
Abstract
Available laboratory data on clays tested for both lateral stress coefficient behavior and undrained shear strength are reviewed. Since the coefficient of earth pressure at-rest and normalized undrained shear strength during unloading are both functions of the overconsolidation ratio, direct relationships are formulated between the normalized at rest coefficient and normalized strength.
