Free Vibrations of Transversely Isotropic Cylindrical Panels on Pasternak Foundation

Publication: Journal of Engineering Mechanics
Volume 125, Issue 10

Abstract

This note presents an exact analysis of the free vibration of simply supported, transversely isotropic cylindrical panels on a Pasternak foundation. Based on three-dimensional elasticity, a displacement decomposition technique is employed to obtain the Bessel function solutions. The exact frequency equation is then given. Numerical calculations are presented and compared with those of shell theories.
