Effect of Length on Fatigue Life of Cables

Abstract
A probabilistic model for length effect in long continuous components is proposed that is based upon the presence of manufacturing defects. This model, as well as some traditional serial weakest link models, are compared with high replication life data taken at eight different increasing lengths.
