Small‐Amplitude Vibrations of Extensible Cables

Abstract
Equations governing small‐amplitude free vibrations of extensible cables are determined. The resulting eigenvalue problem is solved using the Galerkin procedure. Numerical results agree with previous results in the inex‐tensible limit and provide useful extension to extensibility for a wide range of geometrical and material parameters.
