Simplified Approach for Designing Carbon Adsorption Column

Abstract
This article concerns the development of a simplified procedure for designing carbon adsorption column. The basic approach employed in this piece of work was to manipulate the mathematical expressions for both the fractional capacity of carbon at the breakpoint and the depth of adsorption zone to the forms that can conveniently be evaluated by the numerical integration. The procedure was tested and compared with a text book example. From the results of the analyses performed, it is shown that the entire simplified procedure can easily be performed on an advanced programmable calculator or a microcomputer.
