Revaluation of Oxygen Regimes in Fontana Reservoir
Publication: Journal of Environmental Engineering
Volume 109, Issue 6
Abstract
Factors influencing the shape of oxygen profiles in the epilimnetic and hypolimnetic waters of lakes and reservoirs are analyzed. A vertical one-dimensional model of others applied to Fontana Reservoir is used in the analysis. Epilimnetic dissolved oxygen is controlled by molecular diffusivity and vertical currents induced by inflow-outflow differences. Deep hypolimnetic oxygen regimes can be explained by sediment oxygen demand and by incomplete overturn during the previous autumn.
