Elevator System Configuration Optimization

Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 105, Issue 2

Abstract

This paper presents a screening model useful for finding optimal elevator system configuration in tall buildings. The model utilizes a dynamic programming approach to find the least area-consuming solution for the morning peak upwards traffic. The results of some typical hypothetical cases were found to generate reasonable configurations. Several examples are given to show the capabilities of the model and its applicability.
