Considerations for Pipeline Crossings of Rivers

Abstract
The criteria and procedures deemed necessary in the preparation of safe and economical pipeline river and stream crossing design are presented. Background data on the effect of industry and governmental codes on the safety of pipelines are reviewed to show the need for proper site investigations of pipeline crossings of river and streams. Sources and types of data required for design are presented as well as methods of construction normally employed. The need for surveillance is pointed out for the continued safety of the pipeline crossing after construction.
