Integrated Grant Administration Program

Abstract
The Integrated Grant Administration (IGA) Program represents a procedure through which assistance from several Federal aid programs for a multifunctional project can be obtained by means of a single application to the responsible Federal Regional Council. These councils, which were formally charged with the management of the IGA in 1972, establish for each of the multifunctional projects a monitoring task force representing participating Federal and state agencies, and designate in each case a lead agency which serves as the agent for the task force member agencies. The IGA encourages the incorporation of different functional work programs into a comprehensive planning program, fosters the meaningful coordination of Federal assistance disbursements, and stimulates a systematic approach toward planning, budgeting, and implementation of local and regional development programs. If the Department of Transportation participates in an IGA, then it requires review of the application by its Regional Intermodal Planning Group and may ask the project sponsor to prepare and adopt a Unified Work Program for transportation planning.
