Surface Texture of British Concrete Pavements

Abstract
An increased rate of wear of surface texture has been brought about by recent increases in traffic intensity. Research and development of techniques have been carried out in the United Kingdom to facilitate the construction of highway pavements that maintain high levels of skidding resistance over a period of many years. Transverse grooving techniques have been developed to provide surfaces with excellent safety characteristics that will be of benefit to both road users and the community as a whole.
