Large Diameter Pipe under Combined Loading

Abstract
The writers consider the planning and performance of a full-scale test program on 30 ft. long, 4 ft. diam pipe sections. The combined loadings applied in these tests simulate the force and displacements anticipated to be introduced in the underground portion of the trans-Alaska pipeline under service conditions. Experimental results are presented, and a comparison with theoretical data are included.
