Abstract
A method for arriving at a rational estimate of the design freezing index for any place on the Canadian Prairies is described. A correlation between mean annual temperature, mean freezing index, and 25 yr, 50 yr, and 100 yr freezing indices is demonstrated. The writer concludes that the method is applicable to any area with a continental climate.
