Evaluating Transportation Systems
Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 97, Issue 2
Abstract
A framework is established for evaluation of transportation systems. The transportation planner should strive to objectively measure the total effects of alternative transportation decisions on people and their environment. In judging the degree of community goal achievement, the decision of public officials will only be as precise and relevant as the information they receive from the professional. Evaluation criteria should be multimodel in application, accurately represent the goals and objectives of the community, and be measurable in terms meaningful to the public official and to the general public.
