General Aviation's Urban Airport Capacity Problem
Publication: Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE
Volume 96, Issue 1
Abstract
Increasing growth in general aviation traffic in urban areas presents a future airport facilities problem. If urban land remains scarce, maximum use will have to be made of existing facilities. A unique characteristic of peak hour general aviation traffic is illustrated. A possible modification of this characteristic is described together with its ability to relieve peak hour congestion and more efficiently utilize existing general aviation airports in urban areas.
