Abstract
This paper describes the procedures which have been used to be certain that high-strength bolts are installed and tightened to produce the minimum bolt tension required by specifications. It outlines the studies and tests that have been made to develop a safe, practical, and economical method of bolt tightening. Details of procedures are described and illustrated.
