Bearing-Ration Effect on Strength of Riveted Joints

Abstract
Evidence is presented that indicates that when riveted joints of usual structural proportions are subjected to substantially static lo ads, the joint strength will not be reduced if the ratio of rivet bearing stress to axial stress or shearing stress is increased beyond the value that is sanctioned by most specifications for steel buildings and bridges.
