Highway Access: Foreword
Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 123, Issue 1
Abstract
The limitation or control of access to public highways is probably the major feature that distinguishes modern highways from those built earlier. Also, to provide for the ever-increasing numbers of moving motor vehicles, it is necessary that separating grades at intersections, dividing highways to separate traffic moving in opposite directions, and providing for extra lanes to accommodate heavy traffic flows be embodied in the design of highways currently being constructed.
