Metropolitan Traffic and Transportation Planning
Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 121, Issue 1
Abstract
The broad problems of metropolitan transportation planning are outlined herein. A pattern is presented for coordinating the activities of the traffic engineer, the city planner, and others who have an influence or interest in the development of a comprehensive system. The effects of traffic congestion are examined and organizational plans that have been developed are presented. It is concluded that efficient and satisfactory planning can only be evolved by the cooperation of all interested parties.
