Abstract
After the Conowingo Hydroelectric Plant on the Susquehanna River had been in operation for several years, displacements were observed in the structural concrete. Binding occurred in the butterfly valves, and considerable leakage was noted. A system of plumb points and monuments at vital points was established to study the concrete movements. Laboratory tests of concrete cores were made. Studies are being continued; they indicate that cyclic temperature change may have considerable effect on the concrete movement.
