Abstract

Model tests indicate that the spacing of bridge trusses considerably affects wind resistance, and tha.t the resistance produced by the floor bears, little relation to its unshielded area. Other similarly useful. information may be derived from small wood and brass bridge models such as those described in this paper. Component parts of the models were tested singly and in combinations in a wind tunnel to determine the effects of different components on the total resistance. The wind direction and velocity ·were also varied. The paper presents the results of these experiments.
