Professional Status and the Threat of Statism: Address at the Summer Convention, Denver, Colo., June 18, 1952

Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 117, Issue 1

Abstract

The President's annu al address is required by our By-Laws. Because that address is placed in the Society's archives for posterity, it is frequently a most erudite anf formidable document, setting forth the results of weeks of diligent research, designed more for the enlightenment of posterity than for the intrest of its listener audience; but 1952 is a most unusuai year in our Society's history, one in which precedent must give way to obligation. For the engineer, this is the year of great decision.
