Abstract
Recommendations are presented herein for the design of the slab and the beams of I-beam highway bridges. Con sideration is given to simple and continuous spans, to right and skew bridges, and to bridges in which T-beam action is obtained by the use of either shear connectors or concrete beams. The treatment is based on both analyses and tests. The practical significance of the design recommend ations is discussed in the light of current practice and current specifications.
