Abstract
The method presented in this paper is useful in simplifying the analysis of certain types of statically indeterminate structures and is based upon a simple arithmetical principle. The principle is explained first and then applied for purposes of illustration to the solution of two-hinged arches. Practical data to aid the de signer of two-hinged arches are derived. Additional applications of the method are mentioned in the conclusion.
